Top Fall Trends from Vogue's September Issue (Part 2)
4:51 PM Continuing from yesterday's post on Fall's new "It" color, today's post will be all about the first trend of Fall (one that I touched on briefly yesterday): colored leather. When I worked Fall Fashion Week last Winter, I saw SO many fashion week goers in colored leather that I had to take note. Everything from colored leather pants and moto jackets to neon leather skater skirts and dresses, something I hadn't seen before. Fast forward to last week and my purchasing of the September Issue and voila! There was colored leather trends everywhere. One of the first few pages featured a burgundy leather skirt and grey ostrich handbag by Prada. More designers followed with colored leather trends including Fendi, Jimmy Choo, and Michael Kors.
Colored leather is such a versatile trend for those fearful of color. The trend can be adapted for footwear, handbags or accessories, with plenty of colored leather handbags in the issue. Colors seen include our new favorite plum, also burgundy, royal blues and other jewel tones. The introduction of colored leather tells us quite a bit about where fashion is moving and what's driving it there. The inclusion of color to leather gives the leather a softer, chic-er twist to a traditionally "punk" trend. This tells us fashion is turning away from the recent punk craze and looking towards a newer chic, more-lady like yet still sexy and exciting phase. We are no longer trying to rebel and shy away from being prim and proper but learning how to find a balance between being classy and edgy.
